HELP DESIGN THE CENTENARY OF QANTAS POSTCARD 

Qantas Founders Museum is calling on all artists to help celebrate ‘The Centenary of Qantas’ by designing a commemorative postcard which will be sold at the Museum’s Founders’ Store.

Today Qantas Founders Museum will launch ‘The Centenary of Qantas’ Postcard Competition, the first of many activities and events planned by the Museum to celebrate the centenary of Qantas Airways in 2020.

The Centenary Postcard Competition theme is “Qantas. Past, Present and Future” and will have two age groups:   Children : 3-16 years and Adults: 17 years or older.

Entrants are encouraged to capture their fondest Qantas moments and all mediums are encouraged as long as the entries received are in 2D.

Qantas Founders Museum CEO Tony Martin said the postcard competition is a great way for people of all ages to share their fondest memories and connections to Qantas.

“Qantas Founders Museum is dedicated to telling the story of Qantas, the Centenary of Qantas Postcard Competition will enable people to share and celebrate their special Qantas moments with the Museum,” Mr Martin said.

“In 2020, our Museum will celebrate the Centenary of Qantas Airways and this activity is one of many events and activities planned to commemorate this important milestone in our nation’s aviation history, at our place of National Heritage.”

The winning postcards will be announced on 10 January 2020 and the winners will:

  • Have their postcards printed and displayed for sale in the Museum’s Founders’ Gift Store throughout 2020
  • Have the winning postcard displayed in the Longreach Leader Newspaper
  • Receive a commemorative centenary shirt
  • Receive a special 2020 Qantas Founders Museum Hat
  • Be presented with a framed poster of their postcard

ABOUT QANTAS FOUNDERS MUSEUM

Qantas Founders Museum is a not for profit organisation which tells the story of Australia’s national airline, Qantas Airways, and how it began in Western Queensland in 1920. The museum, which has an annual visitation of 47,000 people, holds a variety of exhibits, interactive displays, artefacts and aircraft including an original Qantas Boeing 747-238, Qantas’ first Boeing 707 – 138, a DC3, a Super Constellation and a Catalina flying boat together with replicas of early-era aircraft.
