Mark Svendsen


Freelance writer of children’s books, publisher and arts administrator since 1996. More than a dozen books to date. Has conducted freelance writing workshops in poetry and prose since that time. Wrote ‘feature’ book reviews for ‘The Courier Mail’.


Owner and publisher Coorooman Press publishing Central Queensland history books | Est 2010.
Writer of prose, poetry – including six children’s & young adult novels and an equal number of picture books. Most recent prose publication y/a To Die For. Most recent picture book Not This Little Black Duck. Adult historical novel, As Hammers Fall released May 2020.
Wrote lyrics for a number of pieces including Elena Kats Chernin’s two choral ‘Rockhampton’ symphonies and Todd McNeal’s choral works.
Founding member and current Chair: Arts Central Queensland Inc.
Taught creative writing at UQ, QUT and CQUniversity.
