The Lorna McDonald Essay Prize closes on 28 September, 2018.
Get your entries in now for the honour and glory, and the chance to win $1000 for doing what you don’t get paid to do when someone asks you about the Central Queensland region.
For inspiration why not have a read of one of the shortlisted essays for 2017 here. Author Alan Blunt is a long time resident of Longreach though he came to the district as a young man fuelled by the stories of his governess mother and shearer father. As the founder of Banjo’s Outback Theatre and Shearing Shed and a life member of the Australian Workers Union, Alan is a raconteur par excellence and not a bad essayist either.
